Plate Carrier Question

I am looking at getting a plate carrier. Aside from police surplus vests I have little experience with body armor in a civilian context. Anyway I am curious. What type of plate carrier are you running? Do you like it?

I have a Banshee Shellback plate carrier. I haven't deployed with it to run it through it's true paces...but it fits nicely and I have it broken in.

The only drawback is that the plate pockets are really tight, so a Large SAPI just barely fits with around 1/8-1/4 inch protruding from the bottoms [but secured with the hook/pile strap].

I have a Condor in multicam. In spite of gear snobs knocking condor, this thing is solid. I got it on barter from Far North Tactical (see my "gear" page). FNT has them with hand cut and re-sewn soft inserts, as well as front and back hard plates. My experience is that this vest is just fine. It fits and wears well.

AP, I was looking at those. Which model do you have? Nutnfancy really liked the MOPC. I am thinking it looks like the way to go.

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's the MOPC in multicam.

In my experience, it's decent gear and doesn't get in the way more than you'd expect.

Mind you, I'm not in A-stan doing the hills and low-crawling every day with it, but I've taken it to the woods repeatedly, and it holds up well to PT, as well...

Another +1 for the TAG Banshee plate carrier. If you get one, I HIGHLY recommend a pair of HSGI shoulder pads.

I've beat it up pretty good for a few months. Still going strong.

I've got a basic TAG plate carrier off of opticsplanet. The price is right ($150) and its got plenty of webbing and lots of adjustment ability. It fits and 11x14 stand alone plate in front and back (though the front is quite snug, but no issues so far). My only complaint as yet is with the shoulder straps. They have a tendency to wander about with use, so I'm looking into replacing those.
