I wanted to get a Glock 19 today. Finally got the cash and the time to go pick one up. I did some calling around and there wasn't one to be had near me. Eventually I found a gun shop that had one in greater Atlanta. It is a bit more then two hours away. I got to driving. Bet you can see where this is going
I then topped off my car and made the two hour drive. I got there and said " I want to buy a Glock 19". The dude pointed to some guy and said "he just bought your gun". I cursed loudly, mumbled something about how I had driven for two fucking hours, gave the door a good shove and left.
I figured on burning the place down but decided against it. I would have had to go get a couple of 32 ounce beers, a one gallon gas can, a lighter and a rag. The hitch is that I would have had to then wait until at least midnight. Somewhere between the $15 bucks in stuff and several hours of my time it wasn't worth burning that mother fucker to the ground.
To cap it all off there was construction on the way back which meant I had to wait for 45 minutes while sitting there. So it took forever to get home. Somewhere on the drive I went from being pissed off about the whole wasted Saturday thing to just being bummed out. Eventually one of the local dealers will get one in at a time I can go purchase it.

Instead of getting pissed off and driving back to Columbus, you just should have gone to one of two big gun shows in Atlanta today. Plenty of Glocks and other hardware available all over.
Here in my neck of the woods in Northern Cal, you can't find any 9mm Glocks of any flavor, or Kel-Tec SU-16's. Go figure...
Most likely a good thing...
You would like the Steyr M series better...
A much better gun, superior design, supported chamber, higher quality construction...

9:45, I called the shops in Atlanta. Didn't know there was a show, Darn.
TOM, I think there are some G17's floating around.
Radio Bloger, Yeah burning that mother down was one of the evil thoughts that need to get suppressed from time to time.
Thanks for the idea but I really dig the Glock.
9mm is not my favorite defensive round, but when it comes down to pistol ammo availability in unpleasant times 9mm is tops. Unless you own a PLR-16, of course.
I did not know this was a Columbus Ga. based site! Since Columbus has been my home for over a thousand years....I bet I know you and I know you have heard of me!
BY THE WAY...A BROWNING HI-POWER MK III IS A WHOLE LOT BETTER CHOICE THAN A GLOCK!
I havea world war 2 issue inglis which had the browningcontract. It has the slot on the grip for a stock and adjustible site which is very accurate as is and a grat pistol in 9mm.steve
Brass, I would like one to round out my collection. As Clint Smith said "I admit it isn't the most sophisticated (TOR says: powerful would fit better in this comparison) piece of equipment but bluntly I don't want to get shot in the hallway with this thing when I'm inside your house trying to steal your TV". Also they are by far the most affordable center fire handgun to shoot.
Steven K, Because 9:45 said I live in Columbus and I didn't correct doesn't necessarily make it so.
As for the High Power they are fine guns, some day one will almost surely be in my collection. Aside from both being double stack 9mm's I find little to compare between the Glock 19 and the HP. For what I want now the Glock does it a lot better.
i love my glock 19 :) try gunsamerican.com - i saw over 20 glock 19s that could be shipped to your local gun store.

theotherryan....The Glock 19 is a superb,compact 9mm!I have a 17 from many years past...but I still love my MKIII!
HEY...Benning is a great place...COLUMBUS ain't bad either!
Gimme a call and we'll throw some lead downrange and maybe blow some shit up!
There is no doubt that the Glock is one of the best pistol designs out there. Utterly reliable. I have the deepest respect for the design. It's too bad that they don't fit my hand particularly well.
Sorry it turned out that way. Even sorrier I didn't know you were traveling for guns. One of the biggest gun stores in Georgia is located in Athens, and they had their once a year everything at cost sale yesterday. I'm sure you could have gotten a glock there for a good price.
I like the High Power and carry one if I'm not carrying a Kimber Custom II, or a Taurus 92, or a Beretta 92. But I have several Glocks and they are fine weapons. I just can't get used to the weird little trigger safety thing, it makes me nervous.
-S, Yeah.
Brass, Ergonomics play a huge factor in gun purchases.
Hermit, Thanks. Darn, double darn. I probably should have mentioned something on here instead of taking a fly by night trip. Guess there is nothing I can do about it now.
The HP is a great gun as are the Kimber Custom II and the 92 series. I like the HP but single action is something I'm willing to deal with for the wonderful ergonomics of the 1911 series but not so much for the HP. Eventually one will find its way to my home. A Beretta 92 will be the second 9mm I purchase.
Wifey says Oh no about missing the sale in Athens.
tor,
barrow gun shop, butler ga. 30 miles from benning.
862-5205. give them a call, best little gun store in ga.
theotherryan...Please read this...I think you will be enlightened or just shoot mine!

HELL It didn't work!Google up SAFETY FAST SHOOTING SYSTEM
6:56, Thanks that is worth looking into.
Stephen King, I read that article and it is interesting. I would like to handle one of those if given the opportunity. I am comfortable with single action auto's but don't really prefer them. The 1911 has a special place in my heart that makes it worth dealing with it.
WELL ...GIVE ME A CALL..I HAVE GIVEN YOU MY NUMBER 3 TIMES!ONE MORE TIME ...(706)327-6041
I second what 6:56 said about Barrow's in Butler. It is worth the trip. Definitely cheaper than any shop around Columbus for a new Glock 19.
